E Mentoring - Subject Specific
E Mentors are recruited from local and national ICT companies and Universities departments. They are matched with students who are literate and have good ICT skills. E Mentoring provides support through new technology and is predominantly via E Mail but there is some face to face.
Delivery
E Mentoring will be provided through a web based system which is safe, secure and delivered as a managed service through Firefox, a national ICT company. They provide support to a number of e-Mentoring programmes within Local Education Authorities and are supported by major business partners such as Npower, Jaguar, First Direct and Cadbury Trebor Bassett.

Timetable
- E Mentors are recruited from Leeds University and Leeds Met.
- Mentoring will start in November and terminate at Easter in each year.
- Mentoring will be subject specific.
- University departments will link with school/college departments.
- Training and induction will be given to all school and college co-ordinators. This covers baseline data of the student’s projected grades, pen portraits, tracking sheets, moving on booklets, background information of the school etc will be used.
- Face to face mentoring sessions will take place at the beginning and end of the programme at the school/college
- A visit to the link University department will take place including a campus trail and lunch
NOTE: It is important that a teacher from the department being supported takes responsibility for the e mentor links.
